Moss

Moss is a city and urban area in Norway. It is central to the municipality of Moss, Østfold County. The scenery around Moss is beautiful and varied. There are almost 50 different beaches in and around Moss. In Moss center you will find "Sea Bath" and "Fishing" on the Jeløya side and if you prefer more rural areas, you will probably appreciate the beaches on the peninsula Jeløy in the charming village of Son or at Larkollen. Along the Oslo Fjord the landscape is lush and here you will find everything from cafes, galleries and mansions. Gallery F15 at Jeløy is one of the oldest and most established institutions for contemporary art in Norway. The gallery offers a wide range of print, art, books and design products, and in the cafe you can enjoy the famous Alby Patio. Nearby is the almost 300 year old manor Røed Gård with a lively cultural atmosphere where several artists have their own workshops and shops. There you can also find galleries for both crafts and visual arts. On Refsnes Gods, which has a very nice location on the Oslo Fjord, the main building dates from 1767 and the farm has a unique art collection, including works by both Edvard Munch and Andy Warhol.

Møllebyen, one of Norway's oldest and most versatile industrial areas, lies at the Mossefossen waterfalls. It was the centerpiece of the city's first industrial era and maintained this status until about 1970. Here, Moss Town and Industrial Museum has permanent exhibitions focusing on milling, water and paper industry.
