Stockholm

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden with a city center where most people live, compared to other cities in Sweden and the other nordic countries. In the city center there are approximately 1,4 million inhabitants and in the surrounding areas, which is called Stor-Stockholm, there are 2,1 million people all together. The city is built on 14 islands which are connected through 53 bridges. Stockholm has an archipelago which is one of the world’s largest, with over 30.000 connecting islands. Norrmalm, Östermalm, Vasastan, Kungsholmen or Gamla Stan (The old town) are some of the areas in Stockholm, which are very different even if they are very closely located. Which will be your favourite one?

Stockholm is a very beautiful city with nice parks, walking strokes, view points, buildings and architecture. If you wish to get away from the busy city life you are able to go by one of the boats out to visit the lovely archipelago while enjoying spending some time out on the waters, Mälaren. Maybe you would like to do as the locals - taking a walk around Djurgården with a coffee take away.

Shopping

In Stockholm you will probably be astonished by the great amount of shopping alternatives, which all together probably make the best shopping experience among the nordic countries. In galleries, or at bigger shopping streets or in cosy smaller quarters a great number of stores and boutiques are fighting for your attention when offering a gigantic amount of shoes, clothes, jeweleries, art, books, bags, make up - you name it!

Culture and enjoyment

If you are interested in seeing or experiencing some of the culture offerings in Stockholm there is something for everyone. You are able to choose from a great amount of museums, exhibitions, theaters, concerts and thrilling guided tours in the city. If you like castles you have come to the right place and it is fairly easy to get to these castle areas. We would like to recommend visiting Fotografiska and Moderna museet (museum of modern art) which often has very beautiful and interesting exhibitions and the environment around these museums are delightful as well. When looking for concert areas or places for sports you should point out the arenas Ericson Globe, Tele2 och Friends.

For the younger ones

The smallest visitors might be more interested in visiting Skansen, Gröna lund or Junibacken which all are suitable for young and curious kids. Also any of the parks, play grounds are nice places to visit. For the ones interested in museums Tekniska museet (museum of technology) might be a perfect option. Moreover the ice cream cafés are very enjoyable during the summer period.
